There has never been a “traditional” Christmas for our family. It usually involved travel to Denver and Oklahoma City to visit Grandparents, so we had several Christmas celebrations every December growing up. With family across the country, Matt & Lisa traveled back there for Christmas day. We celebrated with them before they left.
The one thing that is traditional, is our lovely Charlie Brown Christmas tree, chopped down on the Burrows homestead. This year’s was as beautiful as ever!
Hunter is at the “oooohhooo it’s shinny and makes fun noises!” age and rapidly dismissed anything without bling bling. Matt and he were looking at presents under the tree and Hunter was asking… “for me?” to all of them.
We got to hang out with Hunter a few times at Nana’s house, and I’d ask him what he did that morning or day. He’d contemplate, as if his mind was going through the extensive list of things he did, and with a sigh he’d reply… “Ummm…just played.” Life is rough as a 2.5 year old. He ran around saying “Uncle Jon..” and quickly became enamored with him, as all kids do with Jon.
Taylor is a deep thinker. A philosopher at one-year-old, I think has a lot of big thoughts rolling through her head. She sits back and takes it all in… She’d follow me around and stare at me. I kept waiting for her to just bust out with some big life questions. Tay is also working on achieving a solid toddler run and gets a kick out of herself when she does. Several wispy curls crown her head. Lucky girl.
Jon and I had fun with the kids and hopefully filled their minds with wild ideas and dreams of Dall Sheep hunting in Alaska.
